Lilac Celebration
This weekend and next the 800+ varieties of lilacs, the largest in the world, are blooming at the Royal Botanical Gardens. Live jazz with Margaret Stowe. Beautiful day.

wild blue phlox
The Krug Forest in the Kinghurst Nature Reserve is the largest old growth forest in southern Ontario.
360 acres in size with trees up to 300 years old.
As well as numerous trilliums at this time of year there are other spring wildflowers such as this phlox - also saw a couple of blue herons.

The Kinghurst Forest Nature Reserve "in Grey County contains a remarkable, mature maple-beech forest that is a rare example of pre-settlement woodlands in southern Ontario. Many of the trees are 250-300 years old."
