grumpy and spooky
Gareth Lind's grumpy and spooky pumpkin. Certainly grumpier than the 2005 cat - but maybe not as spooky as the George Bush pumpkin...

"A recording of a woman singing "Au Clair de la Lune", recorded in 1860, is thought to be the oldest known recorded human voice...created by etching soot-covered paper, has now been played by US scientists using a "virtual stylus" ...The fact is it's recorded in smoke."

A fall song:
Dreams of Bees
Oh the sun is angled low
and the trees are changing clothes
and the grass stopped whispering
it's laying mute now - till the spring
memories of lilac time
so faded now - don't feel like mine
the summer sounds of the laughing breeze
are drifting through the dreams of bees
weaving fields of Queen Anne's lace
are sceptres brown now - with a turned down face
and the wind and the stars
so cold and clear - heaven's voice and chandelier
pretty bird has flown away
now that summer time is over
leaving you and me to stay
counting on a no leaf clover
memories of lilac time
so faded now - don't feel like mine
summer sounds of the laughing breeze
are drifting through the dreams of bees

Greg Denton kindly asked me if I'd like to join him to help spin some music on his radio show This Un-Godly Hour (7am CFRU) so this morning we exhumed ourselves long enough to listen to an hour's worth of music about Death. You can download the show here

I've heard speed reading enthusiasts extoll its virtues and wondered if perhaps other arts could benefit from the approach so quickly finished my meal, ran through a gallery, doubled the speed of my music player and combined all my posted photos from September into one composite.
