Looking for Old Onatrio

Why is this bridge, built 150 or so years ago, at the corner of MacDonnell and Wellington wide enough for two rail lines? The answer to that question and thousands of other interesting facts about Guelph and the rest of Ontario can be found in Looking for Old Ontario by Thomas McIlwraith. Fascinating stuff: why does Ontario have more brick houses than anywhere else? Why are most of these storey and a half rather than two storey buildings? After reading this book any journey through the Ontario landscape becomes a living history.
Highly recommended.
