Church of Our Lady...

... was built with local limestone that might be 400 million years old. You can read some old stories on the outside walls.

poppy time

Poppies surprise me - the way they all appear suddenly on the same day - the short life of the flowers - and especially the feel of the flowers, so thin and delicate yet rich and substantial.

Gladstone Hotel

In 1974 I lived in a small cabin in Banff and worked the staff elevator at the Banff Springs Hotel taking chambermaids and room service up and down in a manual elevator like this one. Going to the top and racing down was the most fun. Taking breakfast up to Pierre and Maggie was the most memorable.
